Stop paying rent?

The short answer is NO. Evictions are temporarily on hold in many regions, but you still owe the rent. Unless your landlord tells you otherwise, the rent will come due and your landlord may get a judgment against you for missed rent, late fees and attorney fees if he or she must evict you. Speak to your landlord if you are unable to pay right now. Many will be willing to negotiate with you and come up with a plan that both of you will be able to live with through this current crisis.
